About the Referendum

USDA is required to conduct a continuance referendum every five years to determine whether growers support continuing the federal marketing order. The marketing order will be considered for termination if less than two-thirds of the growers voting and less than two-thirds of the production volume represented in the referendum vote in favor of continuance. USDA will also consider other relevant information regarding the operation and effectiveness of the marketing order when making its final determination.

For additional information, including the full text of the marketing order, please visit the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service website, review the Federal Register notice, or visit the American Pecan Council website.
